FUTURO SIMPLE

El Futuro Simple es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para describir acciones que se van a desarrollar en el futuro sin necesidad de aclarar en que momento se producirán. Su equivalente en el idioma español es el Futuro Imperfecto. Por ejemplo:

I will study the lesson. Yo estudiaré la lección.
(No se menciona en que tiempo)

He will travel to London. Él viajará a Londres.
(No se especifica cuando)

They will buy a new car. Ellos comprarán un nuevo auto.
(No se sabe en que momento)

Aunque también se puede expresar el tiempo en el que se desarrollará la acción, por ejemplo:

Susan will visit her mother tomorrow.
Susan visitará a su madre mañana.

John will travel to New York the next month.
John viajará a Nueva York el próximo mes.

Este tiempo verbal utiliza para su construcción el auxiliar WILL seguido del verbo principal en infinitivo. En el siguiente cuadro veremos la conjugación del Futuro simple en sus formas afirmativa, interrogativa y negativa. (Utilizamos el verbo bailar - TO DANCE - a modo de ejemplo):

También se puede usar en la afirmación la contracción de WILL colocándo 'll al pronombre y en la negación en lugar de WILL NOT se puede utilizar la forma contraída WON'T:

I will play tennis. I'll play tennis.
We will paint the house. We'll paint the house.

She will not buy a house. She won't buy a house.
They will not go to the party. They won't go to the party.

Ya hemos explicado como se construye el Futuro Simple para hacer mención de situaciones que se producirán en un tiempo posterior:

En esta oportunidad veremos otras maneras de expresar situaciones que también ocurrirán en el futuro, aunque más cercano. Para ello utilizaremos la fórmula TO BE (correspondiente a cada pronombre) + GOING TO + VERBO PRINCIPAL EN INFINITIVO, por ejemplo:

También es posible utilizar el Presente Simple para describir una acción en el futuro que está totalmente planeada:

Otra forma de describir una acción futura y cercana puede ser a través del Presente Continuo, aunque en este caso es necesario mencionar en que momento tendrá lugar el suceso ya que puede prestarse a confusión entendiendo que es algo que se está desarrollando en el presente, por ejemplo:

CONDITIONAL TENSE

El tiempo condicional se forma en español añadiéndole al verbo la desinencia -ría. Ejemplo: del verbo comer, el condicional es "comería". En inglés usamos el auxiliar WOULD. Ej: yo me comería una hamburguesa = I would eat a burger.
Para decir NO en tiempo condicional se usa el auxiliar WOULDN´T y para formar una pregunta el orden de la frase es:
(Wh-)+WOULD+Sujeto+ Infinitivo?
Ej: Yo no iría a Madrid I wouldn´t go to Madrid. ¿Irías tú a Madrid? Would you go to Madrid? Yes, I would/No, I wouldn´t.

PRACTICA
Traduce las siguientes oraciones:
-Yo iría a Madrid
-Yo no tocaría eso.
-Me compraría un pastel
-¿Te gustaría ver una película?

ORACIONES SUBORDINADAS CONDICIONALES

Hay tres tipos de oraciones subordinadas condicionales.

PRIMER TIPO DE ORACIONES CODICIONALES.

Son aquellas oraciones que utilizamos para indicar una condición sobre una posible acción futura o un acontecimiento que puede ocurrir o no (pero hay una posibilidad de que ocurra). Ejemplo:
Si estudias duro, aprobarás.
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.

(Si la oración de If va al principio de la oración le pondremos una coma).
La oración subordinada es la que lleva if y la oración principal la otra. La frase del ejemplo indica una condición que es muy probable que ocurra (Si estudias, aprobarás)

Estructura:
If+Sujeto+presente... futuro con will
If+Sujeto+presente... presente (indica un resultado habitual)
If+Sujeto+presente... Imperativo (indica una orden o consejo y se forma poniendo el verbo sólo, sin el sujeto y para negativas don´t + infinitivo)

Ejemplos:
Si estás cansado dormirás la siesta
If you are tired, you will sleep the siesta.
Si estás cansado, puedes descansar
If you are tired, you can rest

Si estás cansado, vete a la cama
If you are tired, go to bed

Nota: UNLESS=IF NOT(Si no)

Segundo tipo de oraciones subordinadas condicionales

If+pasado > condicional simple con would

Si yo ganara la lotería, me compraría un coche
If I won the lottery, I would buy a car

Se utiliza para indicar una condición que sería irreal o improbable, para expresar futuras esperanzas que es difícil que ocurran, pero no imposible.
A veces se utiliza también para dar consejo.

Si you fuera tú, visitaría al doctor.
If I were you, I would visit your doctor.
En esta clase de oraciones se emplea WERE para todas las personas significando FUERA (pasado del verbo ser- pretérito imperfecto del subjuntivo).

 
Tercer tipo de oraciones subordinadas condicionales.

Son aquellas que indican una condición referida al pasado, imposible que se vuelva a repetir.
If+past perfect (con had+participio)hubiera
à condicional perfecto (con would have + participio)habría.
Ejemplo: Si hubiera estudiado, habría aprobado el examen = If I had studied, I would have passed the exam.

WHETHER: se puede utilizar en lugar de if, e indica duda.

Whether no se cambia por if:

1. Cuando es sujeto de la oración principal. Ej: whether he was right is something still to be discovered = Si él tenía razón es algo todavía por descubrir.

2. Cuando depende de una preposición. Ej: depend on whether he is ready to cooperate = depende si él está dispuesto a cooperar.

3. Seguido de OR NOT. Ej: whether he will come or not = si él vendrá o no.

4. Delante de un verbo en infinitivo con to. Ej: whether to go by train or by car = si ir en tren o en coche (recuerda que la preposición by se utiliza con transportes y significa EN)

EXPLICACION MAS PROFUNDA:

Would es el pasado de "will" en algunos casos y es un verbo modal auxiliar. Se forma sin ‘do' y después de ‘would' ponemos el infinitivo sin ‘to'.

I'd like some more whisky. / Quisiera un poco más de whisky
Would you like to go out with me on Saturday night? / ¿Te gustaría salir conmigo el sábado por la noche?
I wish you wouldn't smoke. / Preferiría que no fumaras

- Would puede ser el pasado de ‘will' en el estilo indirecto.

Se usa para hablar sobre ‘el futuro en el pasado', cuando hablamos sobre un acción en el pasado que todavía no ha ocurrido en el tiempo del que estamos hablando.

When I saw her on the bus. I didn't know that I would fall in love with her.
Cuando la vi en el autobús, no sabía que me enamoraría de ella
I had no idea that they would offer me the job.
No tenía ni idea de que me ofrecerían el trabajo

- Would se usa como ‘will' para pedir cosas, y ofrecer.

Would you sign here, please? / ¿Querría usted firmar aquí?
Would you like some chocolate cake? / ¿Le apetece un poco de pastel de chocolate?
I`d like to see you again /Me gustaría volver a verte 
Would you mind waiting in my office? / ¿Le importa esperar en mi oficina?

- También would puede indicar  los habitos en el pasado y una firme voluntad en el pasado de hacer algo.

He would play football, rugby and tennis, but he hated playing golf. 
Jugaba futbol, rugby y tenis, pero odiaba jugar golf.
My grandmother would sit in her room all day in a bad mood, and would only cheer up when she went to the casino. 
Mi abuela solía sentarse en su habitación todo el día de mal humor, y solo  levantaba el animo cuando se  iba al casino.

- Pero no se puede usar el would cuando la acción ocurre en una sola ocasión en el pasado.

 Comparar : 

Bono sang at the concert last Sunday. / Bono cantó en el concierto el domingo  pasado
(Y no Bono would sing at the concert last Sunday )

- Sin embargo, ‘would not' se puede usar para indicar la negación de una  ocasión.

I invited her to my flat, but she wouldn´t come. / Le invité a mi piso, pero ella no quiso venir
The bloody T.V. wouldn`t work last night. / No funcionaba el maldito televisor ayer por la noche

- Para criticar el comportamiento de la gente, se puede usar ‘would'. En esté caso se da más énfasis (stress) en el would.

"You were a good boy, but you WOULD leave your clothes all over the bedroom floor"
Eras un buen chico, pero siempre dejabas tu ropa en el suelo
"That`s typical of you, you WOULD go to the pub without leaving me a note!".
¡Eso es típico de tí, te fuiste al pub sin dejarme una nota!

- ‘Would', como ‘used to', puede hablar de acciones repetidas y cosas en el pasado, pero no para referirse a estados como vivir, estar etc.

I used to play football in the park every Sunday. / Solía jugar futbol en el parque todos los domingos
I would play football in the park every Sunday. / Solía jugar futbol en el parque todos los domingos)
I used to live in London. / Solía vivir en Londres
Pero no:   I would live in London

- Would (y también should), como un verbo auxiliar, se usa con verbos que refieren a situaciones no reales o no ciertas. Se puede comparar con el subjuntivo en español. Aparecen mucho con las frases con ‘if'.

If I were a rich man, I'd  build a big, tall house. / Si fuera rico, construiría una casa grande y alta
If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning. / Si tuviera un martillo, martillearía por la mañana
If I ruled the world, every day would/should be the first day of spring. 
Si gobernara el mundo, todos los días sería el primer día de la primavera
If I had known you were married, I wouldn´t  have asked you to dinner.
Si hubiera sabido que estabas casada, no te habría invitado  a cenar
